Shami
$32.99
Shami is primarily Syrian design, although it can be met across other Middle Eastern countries. The ongoing war in Syria was the last nail in the coffin of minimal production of kufiyas there. Now you have a chance to purchase this Syrian design but made in Palestine by Hirbawi. It has the same pattern as our traditional Red and White kufiya but in black and white.
Why Hirbawi?
Why Hirbawi?
By buying Hirbawi, you contribute to keeping the tradition of artisanal weavers alive, the last factory in Palestine and pretty much the rest of the region. You get to own a legendary piece of everyday accessories from the factory that started counting its 7th decade of operation. Read more here
What is Hirbawi Kufiya like?
What is Hirbawi Kufiya like?
Oh...Soft cotton. Most likely the biggest you can find, 47” by 47”, which is over 15 sq. ft. of awesomeness. Made on a custom kufiya loom and finished by hand.

This is thicker than most keffiyahs. You can put it over your head and shoulders to warm you up and keep some sun off of you in the winter, and you can wrap it over your head to protect against artic-type wind gusts.
I received mine same day as a reserved dinner at a Kurdish family owned restaurant serving many regional dishes. I wore a white shirt and a black and white ‘Dogstooth’
Pattern tie ( an old British weave)
My date of part Assyrian ancestry wore this latest keffiyeh. We were seated dead center receiving many smiles of approval!
