Best way to wash your Hirbawi kufiya
So it has been a couple of days, and you are still pretty excited about owning a legendary piece of accessory that we brought you halfway across the world. Hirbawi keffiyehs are perfect, but we, people, not so much. Especially when it comes to putting food and liquids in our mouth, but they end up on the kufiya instead. Whenever that happens to me, I blame black magic and the evil eye. Regardless of the responsible party, now we need to deal with consequences (hey, when was life fair, right?).
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to be as nice as you possibly can to your beloved Hirbawi kufiya.
- Fill up the sink or a washbasin with cold water.
- Add some detergent and swirl it around to dissolve it in the water.
- Soak your shemagh. You may leave it to soak for a while and come back to it later.
- Move the kufiya around, might do some light rubbing if you have some dirty spots.
- Make sure the area around you is wet, because you are not playing around
- Drain the soapy water from the container and rinse the kufiya a few times with clean water.
- Squeeze the water out of your kufiya but don't apply too much force, especially if you are twisting it
- Fold it in half once or twice and lay it down on a towel.
- Grab one side of the towel and start rolling it up, so all the remaining water gets squeezed out and into the towel.
- At this point, your favorite Hirbawi kufiya might be just damp.
- Now that you've taken the weight of the water out of the kufiya, spread it on a drying rack, ideally horizontally. If all you have is a drying line, you could fold it once or twice and hang it along the middle section to distribute the weight of the keffiyeh equally.
- Take the rest of the day off; that was enough for one day.

Samud Stories not Samie Stories autocorrect
free free Palestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

was happy to receive my Samie Stories made in Palestine 🇵🇸 flag
have now used at 3 events
in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza bringing awareness

This is my first kufiya and I love it. It is both soft and strong. I purchased it to provide support to the Palestinian people, their culture, their struggles, and to honor them in my meditations. No one is free, unless we are all free. Free Palestine!

The colors are good, the fabric is sturdy, and the sleeve on the side for a flag pole is sturdy and big enough to fit most poles. including the old broomstick I found for mine. I got several, one for myself and some for my friends at the local vigil. Everyone loves it. It gets raves for the quality. And the day we had three of them waving on a windy afternoon - just gorgeous.

Beautiful Hand Drum. Great sound, quality craftsmanship! Perfect for mobile ensembles, or classroom settings!

Beautiful present for my mother. Thinking of all the suffering, distraught, Palestinian mothers.

I have been waiting for, well forever. I checked in regularly and received e-mail alerts but was always a day late. Random check in and I bought the one I wanted. So happy. It's beautiful, soft, and the perfect accessory. I'm so happy with my purchase and I'm so grateful for my lucky day. Oh yes, shipping was PDQ.

Wish we could normalize wearing these in the states. The material is nice. i can use it to shield from the sun, dust, while working. Even to keep my head and face warm in the cold.

My black-and-white keffiyeh — woven in Palestine! -- arrived in a timely manner. It is well made, soft, large, and beautiful. With its traditional patterns of fishing nets and trading routes, it is a moving testament to the cultural antiquity of the Palestinian people, and to their courage and resilience. I am honored to wear the keffiyeh in heartfelt solidarity with them. May Palestine be free.
